A recent study by the Center of Aging, Health and Humanities found that dancing offers many health benefits. The study found that dancing builds muscle strength, improves coordination and can boost the immune system.

To reduce your current weight by one pound a week, you need to reduce your daily intake of calories by 500 per day (3,500 calories per week). An effective way to do this is to combine a reduction in calories with an increase in physical activity.

Being aware of how you want to feel in any activity makes it more likely that you will perform well and enjoy the activity, that is, make it a positive experience. Get your company to install a bicycle rack in your company's parking lot and ride your bike to work instead of driving. You'll soon be in better shape and so will the parking lot.

Your muscles will burn fat when you exercise vigorously enough to be breathing deeply, but NOT out of breath.

Do NOT use the fact that you are not 100% physically fit as an excuse not to exercise. In fact, in most cases, the only way to get closer to that 100% is to follow a consistent fitness program.

Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing while exercising. Tight, constricting clothing will impair circulation.

To improve your circulation when sitting down, develop the habit of stretching your legs back and forth instead of crossing them.

Do NOT head for the shower or sauna immediately after exercise, this opens up circulation, just as activity does. Wait at least 5-10 minutes to cool down before you shower.
